This is the most scenic and popular tree days trek that can be done from Pokhara. The mountain views superbly beautiful. The trail is relatively easy and the countryside is very beautiful allowing you chances to experience the peaceful life in Nepali villages. All of these makes this trek an ideal choice for everyone looking for short trek in the Annapurna foot hills from the family groups with kids tho the ones who look for a short trekking experience in Nepal.
The trek starts after on hour of drive from Pokhara and ascends through the valley of Modi Khola(river) after crossing the suspension bridge at Birethanti. We then climb past from the terraces, forests and beautiful hill, villages and at the end of the day reach the ethnic Gurung village of Ghandruk. Ghandruk offers a very close view of Mt. Annapurna and the view during sunset and sunrise is fantastic. The villages still preserve the traditional houses with stone roofs and the local village museum is worth exploring. The next day we walk through a lovely trail via the village of Landrung, walk past several viewpoints like Tolka and finally reach to Australian Camp. The lodge in Australian Camp is in the beautiful site from where you can enjoy beautiful Himalayan view from there is really great to watch. On the third day we walk past the viewpoints at Australian camp to enjoying more views and more villages. We emerge to the road head at Phedi or Kande, where we catch our vehicle for Pokhara.
The trek is easy (except for part of the trail which involves ascending or descending several stone steps) and can be done all throughout the year. Average walking is 4hrs - 6hrs. The Highest point is only 2000 mtr. And there is no risk of altitude sickness. And you eat and sleep at mountain lodges called “ tea houses” and if you can’t carry your luggage, the porters are always there to serve you.
